On 22 June 2016, the Sky & Space Intergroup of the European Parliament successfully held an event dedicated to the space industrial policy and its central role in the EU's future Space Strategy.
At the invitation of MEP Monika Hohlmeier, Chair of the Intergroup, the lunch-debate gathered together high-level speakers and participants from institutions and industry, as well as several MEPs. All were keen to discuss the need for Europe to have a long term vision for its space industrial policy to foster both the competitiveness of the European space industry and to encourage a better use of space capacities to achieve EU policy goals.
Participants also underlined the necessity to raise awareness towards EU policy-makers and citizens of the EU's space programmes and to have an ambitious European Space strategy with the necessary budgetary support.
